The Request To Fill Position page is where you begin the staffing process within the system. A hiring action is equivalent to an SF-39 or an SF-52.
To access this page, select the Request to Fill Position button on the Navigation Bar.
The following elements are displayed on this page:
- Documents. This button allows you to upload documents associated with the request. For instructions, see Uploading a document to a request.
- Notes. This button allows you to insert and review notes associated with the request. This button will appear after you select Save.
- History. This drop-down list allows you to view the history of the request.

How would you like to fill this position?. This drop-down list allows you to designate how you will fill your position. The options are:

- New Vacancy.
- Additional Selection.
- Onboard New Hire.

- Request Number. This is the request number for the hiring action. This number will be used to track the hiring action throughout the hiring process.
- Generate. If your agency does not have a specific numbering convention for requests, use this link to designate a USA Staffing-generated Request Number.
- Hiring Organization. This drop-down list will display the hiring organizations you for which you are assigned. This field displays the customer selected for the request.
- Hiring Manager. This field displays the name of the user who initiated the request or the designated hiring manager.
- Is this an interdisciplinary position?. This radio button designates if the position is interdisciplinary.
- Select a position description. Position description information must be entered to complete the request.
- Position Description Number. This column displays the position description (PD) number for each position description included with the request.
- Position Title. This field displays the position title listed in the position description.
- Series-Pay Plan-Grades. These columns display the series, pay plan, and grade(s) for the position indicated in the request.
- Specialties. This column displays the specialties, if any, associated with the position description indicated in the request.
- Add from Library. This button allows you to select the position description from the library. For instructions, see Adding new position description information to a hiring action.
- Add Manually. This button allows you to enter the position description manually.
- Is this position a remote job?. This radio button allows you to choose if the position is a remote position.
- Do you want to recruit for a specific number of vacancies per duty location?. This radio button allows you to choose the number of locations by announcement or location.
- Total Vacancies. This is the total number of vacancies by announcement.
- Select the duty locations where you want to recruit. This field allows you to enter and filter locations by City, Zip, County, Country, or Location Code.

Select the required Security Clearance Level. This drop-down list requires you to designate the Security Clearance Level of the position. The options are:

- Not Required.
- Confidential.
- Secret.
- Top Secret.
- Sensitive Compartmented Information.
- Q Access Authorization.
- L - Access Authorization.
- Other

- Is this a supervisory position?. This drop-down list requires you to designate if the position is a supervisory position.

Select the estimated amount of travel required. This drop-down list requires you to designate the amount of travel required for the position. The options are:

- Not required.
- Occasional Travel.
- 25% or Less.
- 50% or Less.
- 75% or Less.
- 76% or Greater.

- Is drug testing required? A check in this box indicates the position requires drug testing.
- Is financial disclosure required?. A check in this box indicates that financial disclosure is required for the position.
- Is this a Bargaining Unit Position?. A check in this box indicates the position is part of the bargaining unit.
- Is relocation authorized? A check in this box indicates relocation expenses are authorized for the position.
- Is telework eligible?. A check in this box indicates the position is eligible for telework.

Position Sensitivity and Risk. This drop-down list allows you to select the sensitivity and risk level of the position. The options include:

- Non-sensitive (NS)/Low Risk.
- Noncritical-Sensitive (NCS)/Moderate Risk.
- Critical-Sensitive (CS)/High Risk.
- Special-Sensitive (SS)/High Risk.
- Moderate Risk (MR).
- High Risk (HR).
- NCS/High Risk.

Trust Determination Process. This drop-down list allows you to select how the position sensitivity and risk will be determined. The options include:

- Credentialing.
- Suitability/Fitness.
- National security.

- Announcement Number. This is the announcement number associated with this request number.
- Vacancy Position Title. This is the vacancy position title associated with this request number.
- Locations. This is the location(s) associated with this request number.
- Open Date. This is the announcement open date associated with this request number.
- Close Date. This is the announcement close date associated with this request number.
- Status. This is the current status of the announcement associated with this request number.
- View Announcement. This button allows you to view the announcement associated with this request number.
